Riding the Lightning
Here's a little something for
ride-the-lightning: his character idea, a 'Shocker Lizard' from D&D doing some high-voltage surfin'! I had lots of fun toying around with the lighting and effects in this. And I don't know about you guys, but I think the glasses with the slats make this :3

Darkening the shadows would ramp up the drama of the picture and call more attention to the contrast. (That's one thing my original studio art teacher I had, the best one I've ever had, always said "MORE SHADOWS!" She wasn't happy with things until they were dramatic. And dark shadows is the easiest way there.)
If you did bolder secondary lighting to reflect the lightening after darkening the shadows then it'd look spectacularly dramatic. They'd be more opaque then the other light source, thinner, and just along the edges. Sorta like taking your pen tool and drawing lines of blue along the dark outlines of your sketch. It really helps bring things into sharp relief. : D
