Another in the ongoing saga of Proteus…comic-book cover #4
Proteus has been put in his place and rather quickly too, when coming into contact with the most terrible and powerful of ancient ocean dwelling creatures :the deadly Tylosaurus!
Our hero, in his quest to find his past and help others, find himself in need of assistance as he encounters the true monarch of the Deep… Dissever, timeless predator and merciless huntress.
What will fate have in store for Proteus!? Will he escape from the super-jaws of fate? Or does he taste like fish after all?
My great thanks to
Dissever for allowing me to use her fantastic self (in a very perfect form) to further the adventures of the man-fish.
Much thanks, Dissever, for your guidance and suggestions in editing and placement for this piece. It helped a lot.
Sit back and enjoy as Proteus swims for his life!

Would you mind too much if I took a shot at coloring the lineart of this? :) I have a gnawing hunger for trying out some textures and light effects. I think you got a good effect with the airbrush that you used in Twisted Brush, and I want to see just how far I can push the idea...
OH dude!!! That's nice! I LOVE how you got that indication of motion of proteus fleein' for his life! Hee.. And I read it as "Size queen of the deep." *giggle* I know, I'm terrible. I also like how you got the indication of distance with the gradual shading on Disever's body.. Really good!!
Hey Hawse, thanks! I've been studying my comics and got some great ideas about how to indicate movement. Who says comics aren't educational? ;) The shading effect on Dissever's body was her suggestion. She showed me an example with fading the line work, but I used color instead. I think it worked out rather well. *hugs ya*
I pulled out the stops on this one, been working on it for about 5 days. Oh my eyes! ;)

Thanks so much, stud gator. I'm working out my logos and playing around having fun too. Don't forget that site I sent you with the comic fonts. They are awesome to mess around with.
Proteus may or may-not escape, he looks quite tasty after all. I guess we'll just have to wait for the next issue. ;)
