I finally got a new camera, so I will post pictures again for all who care to see.
I bought an old blacksmiths vise on ebay a while back and the thing was in OK condition, albeit missing some parts.
The two pieces originally missing was a locking wedge and the spring.
The original handle was still there, but it was bent and I foolishly decided to bend it back cold after taking the screw off the body of the vise. Hammering the bend only a couple of times caused the old wrought iron to snap, leaving me with two pieces of no use to the vise.
I had to forge a new one, which was little bit tricky because I was holding onto the screw while setting the bar vertically on the anvil and hammering the top part while the lower part packed into itself and made a fat lump of metal.
It came out well enough.
I am really glad to have a vise like this in my new shop area.
