Say I Love You Meme: Ulfric Stormcloak, Bard Extraordinai...
“That's when you came to me and said
"Wish I could prove I love you
But does that mean I have to walk on water?"
When we are older, you'll understand
It's enough when I say so
And maybe some things are that simple…”
-Simple and Clean from the Kingdom Hearts OSTWell, maybe not, but yanno, he tries. Love is not an easy thing for him to confess, and let’s be real, especially to someone who would not be socially acceptable for him to be in a relationship with. He does not start out the story being “woke” in that regard, but, like all good men who need to grow, he does.
This was fun! Definitely an exercise in getting to know your character and having them pretty much say the same thing but in different ways which involves both writing and drawing with consistency but with different body language and expressions.

In the storyline/arc of Skyrim. Nord's are oft xenophobic.
You have to convince a noble to pay "those damned boots" (Argonians in Windhelm) livable wages
There's a woman, absolutely convinced one of the dunmar stole her rings (He's a pawn shop owner)
So not really his fault but, he asks you to return it to keep the "OH FOOK" from hitting the fan
Sadly Ulfric, is kinda the worst about it.
So your story. waaaay better. More passion, more drama. Hell, that'd make it all the more incredible if Nord's were xenophobes
And he's fighting against their bias, and his social programing because he's in love with a Khajit woman

I think you have to consider xenophobia in the context of any high fantasy property in two ways: number one, EVERYONE in that setting tends to be xenophobic. It’s a common thread in the history of the dark ages and middle ages that most high fantasy is based on. And sadly xenophobia served a practical purpose. If people who were not like you were rolling through your lands, rarely were they there for innocent purposes. Does that make it right? Absolutely not. But things were as they were. In keeping with that, honestly the Nords are no more xenophobic than the other races are towards each other. Now if we go on a case by case basis, we can find those who are truly awful like Rolff Stonefist.
As for Ulfric, he actually never says anything in the base game that is truly racist towards others. In fact, he’s the only noble who tells you no matter what your race is that he counts you among his kin. It seems that most people assume he’s a racist because of what some in his ranks say and because of the policy that keeps the Grey Quarter as it is. The Grey Quarter has been like that for generations, at least as long as his father’s rule anyway. Now, does that make it right that he’s not changing that? Nope. It’s dead dog wrong. But he’s also fighting a war so time and effort is going to that and as lazy a reason as this is, it’s the easiest way to keep down what many assume would be racial tensions between the Dunmer and the Argonians. Of course separate but equal is never equal, but we’ll see how he handles it. I do have ideas in mind.

Ah, perhaps I made my own mistake and judged harshly on the company he keeps.
I forgot he accepts you, regardless of race. (I oft don't play towards the Storm Cloaks)
Always felt as though I was betraying Balgruuf. As it seemed he was against the war as a whole and was the first to show at least a small form of neutrality.
Thankyou, my esteemed artist. You've genuinely removed a veil in front of my eyes that I hadn't known was there
