Bat Sketches
Well, it's October and Halloween is just around the corner. With this in mind, I started thinking about Bat. I realize that she's my least developed character from Hybrid. The problem is...I don't have much experience drawing bats!
So, last night, I did a little studying and a did a few sketches. I realize that one of the BIG things I did wrong in her old sketch was her ears. Bats have big long ears like rabbits do. But, bats have ears that are also very WIDE and THAT was what I was missing in her old design.
Bats also have funky noses So, I simplified her nose design just a bit and...yeah, I think that's all that's been updated, for now. Will try to get a finish of her up and done before Halloween!

I faced many of the same design dilemmas. Although I haven't posted the results yet (computer issues--described a couple of journals ago), I did come up with more or less the same idea for the nose treatment, with a little extra peak at the end. The character I'm working with is a Honduran fruit bat, whose face is bare of fur, so that complicates things just a touch :)
