~According to legend, the festival began when the wife of a great warrior drank an elixir that would make her immortal, sending her up to the heavens to watch down upon the earth from the moon. Heartbroken, the warrior set up tables and food under the full moon in hope that, even though very far away, they could still share a meal. Nowadays, families will all gather together to eat dinner, sitting at a circular table so that no person is cut off by a corner. It’s also common to eat round foods such as the infamous mooncake to symbolize the full moon, as well as hanging round, colourful lanterns, and reciting poems in honour of the moon~ Staresnares are a closed species!
