Here is a hammer I forged from a small claw hammer.
The handle is made from oak, I initially thought it was some sort of Asiatic hard wood, it even came from Asia. It's just plain American red oak.
I have a bunch of old hammer heads that aren't really of use to me as they are because I have existing tools that perform the task they once served.
This type of hammer is special because it is use for sheet metal work, especially in copper smithing.
The end is square, but has a domed shape to it and is polished to a mirror finish to leave that very same polished surface into the copper I will work with it.
