Made a reference of my wonderful fruit bat boi Nicholas. Making his ref was a blast, especially since I experimented with a more boxy body type for a male character and I love how it fits him. He’s a precious fruit muncher and cinnamon roll.

In spite of coming from a very wealthy family, Nicholas himself is an incredibly modest and humble fruit bat. He tries to stay out of trouble when he can, helps his friends and family when they need it, and is generally a rather good guy.
Of course, no one is perfect, and even Nicholas has slip ups sometimes. He’s still very young, so there have been a great deal of times when he’s let trivial grudges get in his way. Not to mention, numerous cases of him proving to be awful at taking care of himself as he gets sick often due to lack of monitoring his own needs.
However, with the help of his new demonic roommate, he is getting the (forceful) help he needs. And, while not prone to annoyance, there are times he can get especially frustrated towards others that try his patience. Thankfully, even with his new living arrangements, this seldom occurs and for the most part, he’s a very content and optimistic flying fox.

Extra Misc Fact(s)

• Nicholas is flightless, he has never been able to fly. He was born prematurely and suffered a few complications, all of which were resolved, except his wings. While in the womb, Nicholas’ wings ended up becoming infected, affecting their development and rendering him unable to fly. Physically, they look healthy, but the membrane of his wings can be easily damaged and are very sensitive to touch.

• Being that he is a fruit bat, he only eats fruits, but his favorite fruit is bananas. If you want to make him lose his mind with excitement, get him a banana smoothie, he’ll practically inhale it.

• When he was young, he used to be called a “vampire fruit bat” by his peers because of the way he’d suck the juice and pulp out of fruits when eating. It made him feel self conscious about his eating habits since he was the only fruit bat at his school. While he no longer feels such insecurities, it took him a while to be comfortable with and realize that’s just how his species eats and it’s completely normal.

• Loves ear massages, they help him get comfortable. Astaroth will sometimes massage his ears when he’s had a bad day to aid him in feeling better.

• Despite possessing sharp teeth, they’re not meant to tear into meat or grind bone, he’s a herbivore (specifically a frugivore which eats only or primarily fruits).

• He is one of four other children. He is the only boy, but he’s the eldest and used to watch over his siblings if ever his parents were away.

• Despises water, absolutely terrified of it if it is anything but a bathtub. This is because of an accident that ended up with him nearly drowning when he was 9. It was early winter and being the mischievous child he was, he snuck out early in the morning to try and skate on a frozen lake near his home, which his parents forbade. The ice wasn’t thick enough though and he ended up falling in. Luckily, a group of teens that skated on the lake were passing by and rescued him. Ever since, he avoids water and stays inside often during winter months.

• His most prominent nickname, “Snickers”, was given to him by Astaroth as a term of endearment. The reason for the nickname is not only due to Nicholas’ mane somewhat resembling the inside of Snickers bars, but also because it was the first thing Nicholas offered to Astaroth, which are now his favorite candy. To date, only Astaroth is allowed to refer to him as “Snickers”.
