Implied that the viewer thinks up the story himself because it was totally random idea comes from quick composition sketches. For my thoughts: I think the planet will be gone soon because "moon" (or this is space station or ship?) is destroying and the cat just watching the end. Also here's old humans technologies which forgot by them, may be they left this planet already, may be the planet died before the moon start destroys. May be even this cat the last creature here :D
