Jo really captured my vision for living James. He wasn't always a walking hunk of beef. He was a nerdy chief engineer aboard a Starfleet ship. While he tried his best to get a post aboard the Enterprise, balancing fatherhood and being an equal partner in his marriage meant that academics went by the wayside. All in all, while he didn't achieve his dream of getting on the flagship, James can say he was happy with his life.
