Thank you! This was my first try at drawing Basil or Olivia (at any age) and I think (thanks to the help of some reference pics) it turned out pretty cool :)

I loved that movie. :) I always pictured Olivia as growing up and joining ranks with the Rescue Aid Society. I'm sure they were around in the Victorian age somewhere. Steampunk Rescuers. yeah!

I don't really think those two worlds are connected. In the Rescuers and the sequel, the mice are anthropomorphized a little bit, only wear a few articles of clothing, and the places they work and live reminded me of Kids Next Door and their 2x4 technology. With the Great Mouse Detective, they are more human like, they are fully clothed and they basically live in mouse size rooms that you expect a human to live in. But that is just my thoughts on it.

Grown up or not, there is still an age difference. I can see those two working together again but there would be nothing romantic between them. That said, I love the design here you did for Olivia. You made her older yet you stayed true to the character. In other words, I'm glad you didn't turn her into Miss Kitty.

Impressive! Olivia would have made a wonderful partner/rival/foil for ol' Basil! And I really like your take on her older self.

I may have mentioned this elsewhere, but supposedly the only reason The Great Mouse Detective was green-lit by Eisner was because the directors convinced him that the feature could be used to sell a possible "Basil" TV series. The movie was made, but the series was never produced, though I was told that significant elements were later worked into Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers.

Interesting (and a shame too!), I've heard that CDRR was originally slated to be a series about The Rescuers, but they didn't think Bernard and Bianca would play well in a TV series (another shame) and replaced them with Chip N Dale.

This is awesome! Man its been so long though since I've seen this movie. Sounds like an opportunity to take a trip down memory lane.

BTW, don't sweat the revolvers. They actually look a lot like the ones in the film.

I've heard that Disney was planning Olivia to be a young adult, but they change that idea to make it appealing to the child purposes!

okay yes old piece, but I love it, and Olivia Flaversham's adult look being nearly exactly what I picture my own mouse character from way back, Tessia, to look like once she's gotten a bit older just baffles me!

Did you know that Olivia was originally going to be a older and having a love interest with Basil?
The producers decided that she would be a child character so that the audience would gain more sympathy to her character.

It's a really shame that this didn't get a sequel. I would've loved to have seen mature Olivia come back and help out Basil. I do know that Holmes had more enemies other than Moriarty.
