I woke up at five in the morning from the terrible sounds of gunshots outside the window. On February 24, the war broke out in my country. We were forced to live in the metro for about a week, after which we fled to the west of Ukraine.
I was born and lived all my life in Kharkov. Now my whole city is in ruins. My favorite streets, my favorite places, my school, my favorite square, gardens and parks. Near my home, a shell fell and broke the windows. Every day I have to pray for my relatives who were unable to leave dangerous hot spots. My grandparents literally live under shelling, but they don't want to leave their nest.
Women give birth on the subway. Children in Mariupol are dying of thirst.
They called it a "special military operation."
"Special military operation" destroys hospitals, kindergartens and playgrounds, maternity hospitals, supermarkets, zoos, universities and schools. The "special military operation" has already claimed the lives of more than 100 innocent children and thousands of civilians. Several banned weapons were used, such as vacuum bombs.
My heart is torn apart. This is not a "special military operation". This is the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
According to polling statistics, most Russians support this war, calling it a peaceful mission, but I am glad that there are no more such people in my environment.
Perhaps you will realize this later.
I want to be Ukrainian.🇺🇦♥️ I want to live in my country and in no other.
I also believe that we will defend our freedom and our lands, Ukrainian culture will live with our people. We will never forget this. The truth is on our side.
Все буде Україна!💙💛

Reading this was hard. I can't imagine what it's like to live through something like that, to have your peaceful life suddenly shattered by war. I'm glad you're safe and I shall pray for you and your family. All I can do, sadly, from this side of the world.
My thoughts go with you.
My thoughts go with you.
I'm sorry this has happened to you. I wish my government where not such cowards. Once again history repeats itself and the world does nothing. I wish I could help but all I can do is pray that this war end soon, that the invader will be routed, and you can go home. Slava Ukraini!
Part of the world is afraid to take decisive steps, it's true. Unfortunately, there are many deaths during this time. But we receive a lot of humanitarian aid and weapons, some people turned out to be volunteers and went to help us, this shows that there are many not indifferent people in the world. It's very nice! Героям слава!
I'm so sorry... this whole thing is so horrible. The world never changes its evil ways and those in power are almost always insane. I really, sincerely hope that you and your loved ones stay safe and unharmed. I admire your feelings toward your country. I know these words aren't a lot, but stay strong <3

I decided to make an English translation:
LiS7x: This is the second time we've had a war (
SD: Yes, it hasn't ended since 2014... Only now all of Ukraine has seen this horror, and with greater force.
LiS7x: But she moved further away from my house and just watched it from the window.. although in the last three years, with the Minsk agreements, it was completely quiet, with only rare aggravations. Yes, now everything looks much worse and much more dangerous. (
SD: But there is hope that this situation, however terrible and disgusting it may sound, with the fact that the world has finally paid attention to Ukraine, this nightmare will end. I really believe in it.
LiS7x: I have great doubts that life will improve after the war (if it stops soon), in the coming years there will obviously be a difficult financial situation.. neighboring countries can help us recover, but corruption cannot be overcome.
SD: I think that everything is possible, the situation has clearly improved over the past three years with the change of government. Of course, there is corruption, but not as much as before. Much has been done, and not just lined pockets. So do not lose heart, in any case, we are waiting for a very large-scale coup on its head.
LiS7x: Ah, so many bad things happened that I couldn't answer quickly...
Yes, somehow for myself I did not notice improvements, on the contrary, it gradually got worse. Unless the change of city government to military administrations played positively for the city, since they were less engaged in theft and more care for the residents - at least we no longer sat for 10 days without water in the summer. But now the war is in full swing and it is not known whether anything will remain of the city (the infrastructure is clearly destroyed and no one will restore it - there is no geopolitical benefit in this
