I wonder if it could be a useful exercise for Valmont to attend anyway, if only they would commit to remaining silent and observing. They may have a point that Drayven could use help, but also Valmont seems to only know just enough about the local political equation to get both of them into trouble/make things harder for Drayven. After all, Valmont the mage could always just fuck off.
