Today's Tuesday Portrait Cutepost features yet another one of those characters I drew a few times back in the mid-2010s before forgetting about them, a red panda girl named Rosalie.
Update 3/23/22: Altered the nose slightly to make it appear smaller and slightly more pointed--apparently the last version was so bad it cost me a watcher within an hour of it going up!

Find Me On:
Fur Affinity ◈ Weasyl A teenage tomboy sort, Rosalie is an outdoorsy type, prone to skipping school to spend the day hanging out in the woods. Like most red pandas, she alternates between being very active and very lazy--and surprisingly, has an interest in ballet.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with this revision--I find drawing humans/humanoids challenging as it is, and I feel like what improvement I've made over the years may have actually stripped her design of some of its charm unintentionally, especially in regards to her nose, which is something I struggle with on all humanoids regardless.Update 3/23/22: Altered the nose slightly to make it appear smaller and slightly more pointed--apparently the last version was so bad it cost me a watcher within an hour of it going up!

Very true, it seems I haven't drawn her since 2016, it's to the point where I have digital art that's nearly a decade old...
I did end up going back and revising her nose slightly to make it a bit smaller and pointier, but I'm still not all that satisfied with it. Humanoid noses are just something I always struggle with, they always seem to come out looking too big and bulbous no matter what character I draw.
At this point it's tempting to just give her the animal nose like many of my other hybrid characters have but at the same time I know the issue is just a lack of practice with drawing humanoid faces vs animal faces.

A big, round nose works for some characters--she's just not one of them! I just gotta decide how much more I want to tinker with this as it's done and posted and already lost in the sea of posts on the art sites. I'd like to get it *right*, though, if even solely for my own personal satisfaction.
If you do get around to drawing her, it's worth noting she's a teenager--I haven't pinned down her age exactly, but somewhere in the 15 to 17 range, and she has a bit of "street urchin" energy to her despite her preferred place to play hooky being the woods rather than the city.
I get the feeling that the mall, the arcade, or even the library are pretty low on her priority list when there are trees to climb and ponds to fish in and old abandoned buildings in the woods to explore!
