Yep. A lot of old trucks were like that in the past. It would have two gearboxes a main and a auxiliary.

Been there done that. Years running a split shifter. ....shift. . hit the high or low range from the thumb button flip the throttle and bam your next gear up or down and the dual range box has shifted I drove a 66 Peterbilt 4 axle 12 ton tow truck I ran for 5 years right after I got out of the air force.
