Which state do you like the best of these four?
The tail bursting out and hitting something is a classic,
However, her thickness alone could lead to some situations with the right creativity.
Is Daire's job a waitress?
But she does need a mundane job she works prior to being a selkie, so ideas for that would be appreciated.
As for the pre-selkie… there are a lot of options. Maybe it should be something she can relate to already? Maybe a lifeguard or a fisherman,if she becomes a diver down the line. Perhaps he already was a photographer before specializing in underwater.
Janitor, cashier, deliveryboy, bartender, shelf stocker...
However, while trying to list these, I got another idea. Hear me out.
All of them? What if Daire use to hop from job to job? Either getting laid off or leaving for what sounded like better pay.
“Trying to stay female while delivering a pizza, hoping for a bigger tip. Then she goes full Selkie either while getting back in her car or while in it”
Or
“Cleaning a room and turns selkie while in a doorway, getting stuck.”
Plus I've had a sequence concept for a long time of someone TFing after work to relax and de-stress, so some job where she's got to stay human male for ages to her annoyance could work too. Not sure what'd force her to not try and fem at all though...
Maybe it could be more of a size thing? Dairy’s human form is smaller than her selkie form. So maybe there’s a gig or a line of work that is just too small?
First one that comes to my mind is, well, mining. Small tunnels and lots of dirt.
Maybe an office party, but Daire hasn’t come out yet? IDK.
