As of late, I've been getting more and more messages asking me if I'll do requests or suggestions and the simple answer is NO.

What people really need to realize is that art takes a lot of time for me: Time that I really don't have much of as of late. I work a 40 (sometimes 40+) hour night shift position as a laboratory technician which is a very stressful (physically and mentally) and labor intensive field. It doesn't help wither that we're always short staffed and I have to juggle between two, sometimes three different departments, All of this stress in the past few years has also affected my health. I haven't been getting enough sleep and I was diagnosed with IBS two years ago. I've been resting more and more so I can keep my energy up with my job and my art.

With all of this, I need to put more time into my art and I really want something in return for it so god forbid I want to charge for my art and not be taken advantage of. I'm frustrated. I'm just really frustrated. I've noted that I don't do requests on my commission page, my DA bio, under my username on my DA page and even in the comments of each and every one of my deviations. I might have to send this link to anymore who asked me if they want a request from now on because I feel it's getting to that point.

Here's a protip: If you come across an artist online, look first to see if they take requests before asking. Chances are, if they're holding commissions, they're most likely not offering requests. And if the person says "no", accept it. Don't keep asking and don't spam them on their pictures, page or DMs because it's going to result in you being blocked.

EDIT: I've been getting some flack about how I shouldn't say that I don't do requests and that I shouldn't tell people they don't have my permission to use my art. Here's the thing though: People aren't getting the hint. People don't HAVE to do requests. I'm way too busy to take requests and free art is only going to be on MY terms. As with the whole "not telling people not to use my art without my permission", I had people in the past take my art and upload it to other sites without asking me. It's disrespectful and I don't get why people are mad that I'm putting my foot down. If you want art from me, PAY ME. It's that simple. If you can't afford it, fine but don't attack artists who want to make a business. Don't like it, too fucking bad.
