Allow me to take you to a realm across the stars. You may know this world as Saturn, the 6th planet from the sun within your solar system. But to the Dwarfs, they call it Svartalfheim - Home of Dusk. It's a realm where the sun at its brightest is still rather dim compared to the mornings of Earth. And yes, even with the sky in perpetual dusk, the planet is kept hot due to the Ring that circles it.
The Ring is odd; it gives heat that the denizens need to survive, as though amplifying the sun's rays. But it also gives water, for Svartalfheim is a realm where water is hard to find. Springs, rivers, and lakes are rare, and the ocean is nothing more than sand-the Quartz Desert many have called it. Fresh, drinkable water comes from The Ring in the form of blocks of ice. On Svartalfheim, ice is worth its weight in gold, and water twice as much. The various races in Svartalfheim fight for this resource, and many Dwarven Kingdoms rise and fall on whether or not they could secure this water.
Django Foxtrot is one of many Princes of the Dwarven Kingdom, though he is aware that his chances of gaining the crown proper is unlikely. Not that he cares. He cares very little for politics. Kings who have spent too much time in their fortress castles and not enough time in the dirt and moving the rocks, having disconnected with the forces of Gnome. He's much more comfortable with a hammer or sword than with a scepter and crown.
