Fun fact: most of the snakes and kobolds who work for Charles are basically insane. Why would he enlist such characters? Simple: it ensures that they lack the fear of going into dangerous situations that other soldiers wouldn't dare go into. That being said, it is a miracle that they can function and follow orders in the first place.
