When I was a small child, there was a tape I would watch which had an animated logo at the beginning. I wished to possess it somehow, as if the abstract colored rods could be brought out of the screen and take a meaningful form in reality. They couldn't, of course. They were just glowing spots of phosphor. An empty signifier. What would I have done with it if I had it anyway? I don't know. If I had been given something, bits of plastic maybe, that resembled it, I'm sure I would have been disappointed.
It's nonsensical, but I still do that.
