{NOTE: POSSIBLE ALLERGINE WARNING!}
(NOTE: PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USEING THE OVEN AND WHEN REMVING THINGS FROM THE OVEN SO YOU DON'T GET BURNED.)
So, this is something I made tonight on a total whim due both being hungry and bored. XD And I am absolutely stoked with how it turned out so I figured I'd share what I made with anyone wanting to try it out.
Cook Time: About 20 to 23 minutes depending on oven.
Prep Time: About 10 minutes; Give or take on the size of the dough sheet and apple size
Ingredients:
- 1 can/container of croissant sheet dough (doesn't matter what brand)
- 2 ounces of butter split in half (Depending on size of dough sheet this can be increased or decreased as needed)
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon (again depending on size increase or decrease amount as needed)
- 2 to 3 Gala Apples (you can substitute any other kind of apple you want for this, I used Galas due to the ones I had being small.)
- 1 Baker's Half Sheet Pan covered in aluminum; You can use a larger sheet if needed.
- Cooking spray
Step 1:
Preheat the oven according to the direction indicated on the dough container. (Mine stated 375) Let the Oven preheat
Step 2:
Prep sheet pan with aluminum foil and coat with cooking spray to prevent sticking
Step 3:
Open dough container and roll out dough on sprayed sheet pan, if the dough tears try to patch up any holes as best you can so fillings do not fall out.
Step 4:
Once dough is rolled out, take first half of butter and spread it liberally on the inside of the dough--add more if needed
Step 5:
After washing apples, cut into fourths and cut the cores out. Slice each quarter as thinly as you can then cut in half.
Step 6:
Layer the buttered dough with the apple halves into columns or rows, consistency in amount is not required.
Step 7:
Once apples have been layered, sprinkle cinnamon over apples--you can also add sugar or other spices if you want.
Step 8:
Roll the dough carefully (make sure that any tears/patches are carefully rolled over so filling doesn't spill)
Step 9:
Once dough has been rolled up, use remaining butter to coat the outside
**Note: If you want to add sugar or cinnamon on the outside feel free to.**
Step 10:
Place sheet pan with dough in the oven and set the timer for 20 to 23 minutes. When done check to see if fully cooked through by sticking a toothpick in it. If it comes out cleanly that means it's done.
Once cooled serve and Enjoy.
Makes about 5 servings.
FINAL NOTE: I plan to try this again with different fillings. Don't limit yourself to just apples. :3 Hope you all enjoy.
