Born on November 14th, 1998, Sylvia Judith Stern was the only child of Robert Stern and Laura Foster. After a car accident killed her parents when she was 11 and gave her a stutter, Sylvia learned very quickly how to work and survive on her own, learning to drive when she was only 12, and earned money by delivering packages to others around the city. Not known to her however, those packages were filled with illegal substances, and a traffic stop would later get her arrested for possession of illegal drugs and underage driving and she would be sent to a juvenile detention center, and after a court hearing, was put on probation and sent into a foster home.
Sylvia would go on to be adopted at age 14, by a rich couple who had just lost their child to pneumonia. There, she was treated like a princess, but Sylvia was still unhappy; she didn't feel like she was loved, she only felt like a replacement for the child they had lost. Sylvia would be at odds with her foster parents, in regards to her desire to pursue a career in music, a career she sought after picking up the guitar and learning to play it to cope with her parent's death. After a group of kids were making fun of her at school, she would go on and fight them, coming out on top, but also getting in big trouble with her parents and the school. During their fight, Sylvia stormed out of the house and never looked back, once again heading out onto the streets.
She would bounce around city to city looking for jobs to do, no matter what was given to her or who offered it, even going back to the package delivery runs she used to do. When she was 17, she would end up being arrested again for drug possession, and would end up going behind bars for the next couple of years, released for good behavior and a successful appeal.
She would meet Zach in 2017, when the two met each other on a blind dating sight for former convicts. The two, albeit shocked that the have been paired up by the sight despite being rival species, really clicked, and kept dating each other for the next couple of years. In 2019, they would go on and adopt their own child, Blaze, a charmander that came from an abusive household.
Sylvia took on Zach's last name in 2021, the two legally acknowledging they were domestic partners.
