You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever infected a water supply? comment hiding is useful! it is pretty much a standard for social networking sites, and it's a big improvement from someone having to contact an admin or delete and repost your submission/journal if you want to get rid of a comment.
but come on, give me that chunk of the code, i will fix threading for them. currently the only reason that it's broken (as far as i know) is because the threading code was written by either arcturus or jheryn way back in the day, and no matter how awful the existing threading code it's not like it would be hard to fix.

I disagree, I think comment hiding only serves to reinforce asspats and hide legit criticism. By having a high barrier to comment removal, you ensured that truly bad comments were hidden while keeping the site free of hugbox mode. Now, instead of actually having to defend their work, artists can just hide comments that aren't asspats or overt cocksucking.
and? no matter the state of art on fa specifically, in the rest of the social media world the standard is that a user is the absolute ruler of their own posts, and they have the authority to delete and ban users for their own space at their own discretion. users in their own space aren't obligated to interact with anyone else except in the ways they want to, and that's a pretty good standard.
if someone actually does delete everything that is even slightly critical then that's their prerogative, no matter my or your or anyone else's opinion of their behavior. if that really cuts you up, make your own journal about it and talk about it where you can control the discussion.

Christ, I see much more of this so called "hugboxing" on people who bitch about hugboxes than folk who just want to have a bigger control over journals and submissions.
