Fate is the Avatar of fate and destiny(*), and has therefore the sole power over these. the outer form of this being appears to be of an asexual humanoid of indefinable age. Fate did sympathize with Re, in ending all of existence and establishing a new order. this Avatar is finally killed in the Great War(**) simultaneously by The Finale, Gremlin, the blades Skyshade and Chaosedge, both swung by Fyre, ultimately ripping the avatarpower of Fate to pieces which then were absorbed by those four, granting each of them a part of this power.
*
during the end of the Great War(**), at the borders of reality, before Atum was overpowered and destroyed by Re, Atum took thirteen fighters from the fields of battle - this ancient place of legend, where the forces of Re (the Aengels, the Master Puppets and the Lesser Men) fought the forces of creation (everything and everyone else, basically) - into his self, into his mind. there Atum gave to each of those 13 beings a part of his very own essence, thus creating the first 13 Avatars.
Atum God-Creator then spread them throughout the worlds this deity had created, through time, through space and into various alternate dimensions to hide their presence from Re and his advancing forces who seek to find and finally destroy them and thus destroying creation itself, making way for their new order. most of these beings, the avatars, have no memory of this incident, their "rebirth". while some are immortal, others were not. when an Avatar dies, his Avatar-power remains in the dimension he died in until another being absorbs the freed Avatar-power. those Avatars who have no full knowledge of their powers - and those unaware of inheriting it - are the Sleeping Avatars. some that are fully aware of their powers are C'Tuon, The Finale, Skyshade, Chaosedge, The Endless, Keeper and Fate.
the Avatars are the embodiments of the very structures of existence.
the most distinctive characteristic of an Avatar is also at the same time his avatarpower. an Avatar can only be wounded or killed through something/ by someone from his own dimension, in the Purgatorium and by another Avatar. in case of the latter, said Avatar absorbs the power of the one he has killed immediately, adding it to his own. Avatars can also be killed by the Aengels, since they are simply an extension of Re.
each Avatar is 'coated' in a field of his "birth-dimension".
there have existed, do exist and will exist thirteen Avatars. as who is deemed important to the story of Stargazers, is as follows.
01. Avatar of dreams, illusions & fantasy - C'Tuon (Matsya)
02. Avatar of coincidence, chance & chaos - Chaosedge (Parashu-rama)
