Again, this is another great drawing. He looks very excited to see them. I love how the bat is slightly out of focus. It helps showcase your talent as an artist.

Although I never intended to have Bats as part of the world - surprising, considering that they are mammals - it would be interesting an and exciting scenario. I never told you this last time we talked, but an early draft did have them included. Unfortunately, they were not as well adaptable as the other mammalian races who ended up conquering them. Their backstory was that they were exiled from their homeland and spread as a slave race throughout the three known continents. I scrapped it because it clashed with the ideology that mammalians of the Middle Continent see themselves as superior to mammalians of the other two continents. Especially how the ones on the Middle Continent will only enslave their kind and not different species.

Ah thank you! And yeah that sounds interesting, it would make an interesting comparison to the way the humans are treated, both treated not very kindly by mammalian and needing to stay in the air. But yeah, it’s good to keep focus to the story, because there are a *lot* of mammals, and including unique cultures for each and every one would stuff the current narrative. Still, that can also do for extra material for any future spin-offs, heh.

I see the reasons why. There's no way the Sapiens in their zeppelins and dirigibles could survive with these giant flyers zooming around! They'd blindside them, and with echolocation could snatch them even in the dead of night.

Your comment highlights a little fun fact that some of the bat's story made it into the final draft. That 'gigantic' problem you brought up was the original reason behind the Crow's Nest position on the Zeppelin. So, when I deleted the whole Bat species, I changed it to larger and more dangerous birds.
