Hyenas are really cute, and demonstrate significant intelligence. Shame that Disney did them so dirty.

yeah they're really cute AND really smart! Spotted hyenas are one of my favorite animals. I can't hate too much on TLK, because it was my absolute favorite movie as a little kid and a huge influence on my imagination, but one of my favorite anecdotes that I've heard is about how (iirc) the researcher who coordinated hyena life drawing sessions for the animators was so mad about how they were portrayed in the finished movie that they told people to boycott it, lol. I feel that.

The franchise has done a lot to redeem hyenas in recent years. I had no interest in the species until watching the Lion Guard, and the Jasiri character was introduced. I liked her, and started reading up on spotted hyenas. Now they are one of my favorite species. You're doing a lot to change perspective of them, one pic at a time.

yeah, I'm glad to learn that Disney tried to rehab their hyenas a bit with The Lion Guard. I'll keep doing my part to be a hyena cuteness evangelist! Hyenavangelist.
