after a life of somehow never checking out the Mass Effect series, I watched a friend play Legendary Edition when it came out, and the aliens I got the most attached to weren't the cool armored turtle-dragon people or the tall, chivalrous bird-cat people... but the two alien species in appearance-obscuring head-to-toe spacesuits. Go figure. Anyway, I love the volus and in my head I like to think that they look like squidgy little manatee-bulldog-hamster people under their suits. I kind of went a little nuts speculating about their appearance and biology.

For me, it was the Turians, but I love Mass Effect. I think you should dive deeper into the species lists. There are alot, including the mystical Asari that legend states and I quote "Asari visually stimulate their potential mate by reading their mind for a moment and seeing what they are attracted to, and uses a type of magic to appear as their ideal mate and species." Its not official in the game, but people have talked about it since we only seen the game's story as a human, and seen Asari as "Human like Female looking species".
I do like the turians too! I just haven’t drawn them as much as the volus or quarians. And that bit of lore about the asari is interesting, but their design is still the least interesting to me out of all the aliens, so I don’t know how much I’ll be drawing them, lol.
I love it that people don't think that's true, yet there's some backing it up, like how much they change between the games, and mostly the attraction between Asari and Humans are more common than any other species. I mean come on, the Asari appear only female, but they themselves have gender roles that best fit their community.
