With friends like these - aftermath
When Kong watched Godzilla disappear down Anguirus's throat, he thought that was the last he'd see of the big lizard. He didn't realize that There Must Always Be A Godzilla. And when did return, the king of the monsters didn't remember everything that happened. Godzilla was, however, sure that whatever happened was Kong's fault.
The result was another knock down, drag out fight, and this time instead of a draw, Kong lost.
Only then did Kong realize that assuming he and Anguirus were allies was a mistake. After all, what happened to the spiky kaiju's -last- best friend? It turns out that trusting an opportunistic, hungry kaiju is a good way find out what it's like inside that kaiju.

Fun continuation to a picture series I really liked, but as a fan of the movies I have to say far as I know Godzilla doesn't just come back after dying. For instance, the very first one was killed, and its skeleton was used to create Mechagodzilla Kiryu, the second Godzilla which was in the majority of the movies was an entirely different creature with a different personality. That second Godzilla canonically was killed twice, once by Mechagodzilla where it got resurrected by Rodan sacrificing itself and the second time permanently by melting down due to a defect in its heart. All the other versions of Godzilla are entirely different creatures with different personalities with no actual connection to each other.
