Hella nice shot! That company made lots of electrical and small parts for European cars, including the reflectors VW had to glom onto their cars after the 1968 vehicle safety laws passed in the U.S.

I have seen five or six Amphicars over the years all here in the Pacific Northwest. The first one was in the late 60s it has Canadian plates on it. A guy I worked for in the late 70s had two of then one was in nice shape the other was beat but still floated thanks to duct tape. And saw two more about ten years ago one was restored and the owner was restoring the second. He also found bigger engines to put in them so they do near highway speed.

This is the only one I've seen that was road and water-worthy. I've seen one or two others in museums.

I saw one at the lake when I was just a kid... in the 60's... it went into the lake and sailed away... but not very fast...

They aren’t going to pull someone on water skis, that’s for sure. Gotta figure those tires generate a lot of drag under water.
