Jess is a girl with some serious issues. As someone who's half predator and half prey she's not the most stable person in the world. She's good at keeping a lid on her emotions. She's had a lifetime of practice at it. But if you threaten her or, worse, threaten one of the few people she loves, that's when you find out that the weasel side of her nature isn't buried as deeply as you thought.

It does, actually, doesn't it? It really does a good job of capturing not only the mood but a sense that she really is on the verge of doing something. In actual fact I had it in mind that this is the point where she stops running and turns to attack. This image is not a direct scene from her book, but very heavily influenced by it, where she has gone back to face her greatest enemy. But it has her caught so nicely at the moment where her fear is turning into anger that it really does look like she could go either way with it. It's a wonderfully done piece, all around.
