Mostly boxing because that was fashionable for a co-ed to learn back in the 80s. The staff and other things know what to do. That's what they do.

Hmm, sounds like similar to Bartitsu (British Mixed Martial Arts). I learned (Self-Taught) Bartitsu myself. It has six disciplines to be learned, which is Boxing (In British latin: Pugilist), Artifice (Distract your opponents/enemies attention with something, such as pocket square or jacket by throwing it to their face), Accessories (Using weapons such as umbrella, walking stick, staff like you, etc), Judo ("Gentle way" is a system of unarmed combat, modern Japanese martial art and Olympic sport), Jiu-Jitsu (Also spelled jujutsu, also called yawara, form of martial art and method of fighting that makes use of few or no weapons and employs holds, throws, and paralyzing blows to subdue an opponent), and finally Savate (Also known as boxe française, savate boxing, French boxing or French footfighting, is a French kickboxing combat sport that uses the hands and feet as weapons combining elements of English boxing with graceful kicking techniques).
