Maiken, a gray wolf (Canis lupus lupus) at Jungle Cat World, is illuminated by a crimson winter sun setting behind the trees. A brief pause in her step and glance to the east afforded me a lovely opportunity to take her photo before continuing on her way. As the sun continued to set, she traversed her enclosure to find a hilltop where should could howl with her lupine kin, heralding the cold night ahead.
