Lindsay had made several friends in her travels across her world, two of which were Tate and Liza, the twin gym leaders of Mossdeep City. She learned from them that Drake was planning to retire from Hoenn's Elite Four and was considering trainers who became Champions in the past as his replacement. Approaching the man who had inspired her to become a trainer, they talked at length, and Lindsay was soon chosen to replace him.

She wasn't sure what type to specialize in at first... Then realized that no Elite Four in other regions had a fairy-type user. She also decided on a special gimmick; using only Pokemon that looked like sweets. To add to this image, Lindsay died part of her hair pink and wore clothing to reflect a Neapolitan ice cream theme.

As Drake was the last person most people faced before the Champion, Lindsay had big shoes to fill, and she thinks she's filled them admirably, giving many aspiring trainers the fight of their lives.
