Almost same method I use except I almost always skip pens and go to coloring, depending on the picture and theme/setting. If it's a more serious picture like a scene depicting death or tragedy or something, I pen it in for the harder "dramatic" look and if it's humor-based or something romantic or along those lines I just use heavy-compression on pencils.
