Back in her youth, a 16 year old Audino thought it would be a good idea to be as reckless and careless as she could be. It started at borrowing her friends skateboard to ride down a hill, kickstarting her loves of "danger and risk". What started at skating escalated to biking, but why stop at a hill? Why not a mountain instead? Or manuevering a bike over a thin board that connected two rooftops in the city she lived.

Veronica grew up in a working class family and would often be found hanging around with other neighbourhood kids until the early hours of the morning. While her parents worried neither were able to calm her angsty teenage heart and rebellious attitude. Veronica was particularly fond of swimming, going down to the bay every chance she got whether to go swimming, sunbathe or to dive off of the bluff nearby. The rush she felt while diving down into the water was incredible! But doing the same thing over and over soon wears out its welcome... diving off the bluff wasnt the same anymore... she knew she would be alright and that the water was more than deep enough for her lithe and aerodynamic body at the time.

So seeking bigger thrills she would begin to travel the world to partake in different dangerous activities. From skydiving, to deep ocean diving, a contrast in heights but each filled her with fear, dread and excitement no matter what. But like must be wondering, how did a reckless dare devil end up a nurse? Well thats where this story takes a turn.

At the age of 28, Veronica had volunteered to partake in a mountain climbing expedition that led to near-fatal injuries for all involved. Before the group could even start the ascent they were warned by locals and advisors that the conditions were far too dangerous to let them climb at this moment. Though thats exactly why they wanted to go this very moment, for that adrenaline rush. Unfortunately(Or fortunately depending how you look) Veronica was the first to lose her nerve(and grip). Barely 50 meters up the trail and the blizzard around them grew far more intense than they could have expected, Veronica lost her grip and found herself rolling and falling backwards down the trail, past the path and down the steep incline. Rocks, ice and snow all pounding at her body as she tried to cry out for help, her ribs cracking and breaking along with her left arm and leg until she felt her body not moving anymore. Crying out for help she desperately tried to crawl towards somewhere the group or anyone could find her... the frigid ground and howling wind was chilling her to the bone... she felt sleepy.... she wanted to go to sleep... as if the snow was a soft blanket for her... her temperature dropping she closed her eyes and felt the icy grip of d....

Veronica remembers little of what happened next, she doesnt remember who found her exactly but she remembers a woman standing over her. A nurse who was tending to her wounds and making sure she didnt go into shock. Veronica focused all her efforts on remaining concious by looking into her saviours face as they did the best they could to keep her alive.

It took 6 months to heal from the incident, with her legs never going to be sturdy and reliable as they once were. Throughout her recovery she would think of that nurses' face, whilst they never did meet again Veronica had many nurses and carers coming in day in and day out while she recovered. Owing them for being alive that day she aspired to go back to college, university and then med school to become a nurse like them and hopefully disuade and save others that were like herself.

Starting from square one the whole experience would take well over 10 years, Veronica was already in her 40's when she finally earned her doctorate, old but not useless she had reached where she had wanted to be in her life. While having never taken on a lover or birthed any children, she values life amongst all things now. Having almost thrown hers away for a cheap thrill she swears to never ever be so reckless again, to preserve life as much as she can by saving the lives of others.

But her body's clock is on its own timeframe, she knows that soon enough she will never be able to "Bring life into the world" herself. So this mature nurse is on the dating scene looking for a man to be her "happily ever after" as well as just maybe give her a chance to have a child of her own even if in the end they have to adopt.
