I took a class at the annual state taxidermist competition and did my first taxidermy mount. They provided the form, cape, eyes, earliners, clay, bondo and hide paste. I still need to do finishing stuff like painting the nose but it has to completely dry first.
I’ve been tanning for a while but never attempted a traditional mount so now I feel more confident about the pelts I’ve been doing. I didn’t really know what was needed to make it mountable and my pelts are way better than the one I got for this guy. I had to finish turning the ears and nose and sew up a bunch of holes. That and they only had two sizes for the forms and mine was way too small, so I had to build it up with a layer of clay to make the pelt fit.
