I was watching a short documentary about cartoon mice last night, which explored briefly how mice are a favorite subject of cartoon studios and how every major studio had it's own mouse character. This one is mine. Daisy Poise was, in fact, my very first cartoon character, invented for a strip I was working on some years back. The episode (of the series Betsy The Bookwriter) was a parody of THE WIZARD OF OZ, and I needed a cute character to take the place of the cowardly lion. My solution was Daisy, the milksop mouse. I had so much fun drawing her, even though I had no real experience drawing cartoon characters, that I developed Crissy Carrots, a strip about a cartoon rabbit. Both characters, changed quite a bit from their introductions, are now members of Cartoon Cuties. Daisy even starred in a couple of our "Static-mation" YouTube cartoons. Her huge ears are more difficult to draw than I imagined, however, so she hasn't gotten as much of my attention in the series as I expected.
