Seriously, this thing is super easy to move now. :D
Finally found my bottle of 3-in-1 oil!
Anyone who's only used WD40 to oil things (seriously, don't, it evaporates), doesn't know what they're missing.
I wanted to draw something different. So I did.

Yeah, what WD40 does is cleans all the oil off the joint. It's oil-based itself, so initially it lubricates, but within a day or so, all the oil is removed from the joint. :P Use 3-in-1 if you're going to oil something!
The arm is an Ergotron LX desk mount, the old version of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16824994063
Ergotron lists it for $170, but NewEgg virtually ALWAYS has it for $120.

WD-40 is a tool! Sometimes, it is the wrong tool. Like using a screwdriver as a prybar, or duct tape for masking paint. 3-in-1 is a handy light-weight oil, yes, but sometimes it's the wrong tool, as well - you have to be careful. My mom's old sewing machine got injured by 3-in-1. It can gum up if it's in high-heat, high-stress environments.
If you want The Shit™ for certain parts of chairs, though, it's grease. 3-in-1 wins out over WD-40 because it's way the hell thicker and will actually film up properly; for heavily stressed stuff, 3-in-1 and other lightweight oils will fail almost as badly for the same reasons. It takes higher viscosity to stick around in a really heavily stressed joint.
