My machete has needed a sheath for a while, so I made one some time ago.
The leather is stained using rust mixed with vinegar.
Rust is quite handy to have and I have plenty, so iron oxide and vinegar stains are probably going to be a trend for my sheathes.
This sheath is embellished with a sassafras leaf, a 3 lobed leaf belonging to my favourite kind of tree.
I did not make the blade of the machete, but it is modified and I made the handle. The blade is vintage and high carbon steel, not like modern day machetes which I find to be almost always a stainless steel alloy.
