Once they were back at the cabin, Maria found she could stand again. Giving a bit of a sigh of relief with Shadow pacing around a bit in worry making sure she could walk alright again. She smiled and places her hands on his cheeks to calm and reassure him. He settled down and sat down as closed his eyes and leaned into her touch with a long sigh.
She worked on getting a decent fire going to warm up the cabin and checking the storage of water and meat, which was mostly fish now. Shadow laid on the floor in front of the fire as Maria worked on prep work for a meal for them. They had a few vegetables remaining but those were going to run out soon. Shadow seemed to have no trouble getting fish even with the lake starting to freeze, but she did worry about him in the icey waters.
Lost in her thoughts of what could do to help through the winter, she started cutting up one of the fish Shadow has caught earlier with her knife. She was suddenly struck with her vision blurring slight and held her hand to her mouth as coughed hard a few times, leaning on the table. She shook her head in a light daze as her vision returned to normal quickly and stared at her hand in surprise. Small red speckles were on her hand. She was snapped out of it as heard Shadow shift as got up and walked over to her. She quickly wiped her hand on her skirt and went back to cutting the fish.
Shadow leaned over as stood next to her and looked around, ear perked up as sniffed around. Nudging her shoulder lightly after a moment.
"It's alright Shadow. I cut myself a bit since was lost in thought. It's nothing. Will get our meal finished up."
Shadow tipped his head a bit still looking her over, but she looked alright. So he walked over to the other side of the table and sat down, flopping his head onto the table and watched her work.
