I've seen some old archival films of window panes being made by glass blowers. A fascinating process, IMO.

yes, it is... and it's also really really dangerous. I spilled a bottle accidentally in the hold of a buoy tender and we had to go in with breathing devices...

That's another fine mess you got them into! ;) And I did find the glass-blowing part interesting.

I'm sure the blowing of glass gets into much more detail, but I too found it to be very interesting. Sadly, much of the old ways are fast disappearing. I had the opportunity of interviewing an old fencer, and in his day, he was the fellow you spoke with about inks. He was THE authority on them and had written books and given lectures. All of this for a time when printing things such as grocery bags was a trade.

By the by, did I ever tell you of the book my daughter got for me? It was written by a Battle of Britain ace and actually autographed by him too.
