I started a more adult job last week, but I still feel so weird. The actual work is fine, but dressing up, working in an office, and all that sorta stuff feels so weird.
I feel like a kid in a suit, pretending to fit in with grown ups. I think it's mostly the clothes I feel weird with, it puts me so out of place. I spent most the past few years in pajamas while finishing up college. I even wore glasses to the interview just to look smart. X3 I guess I just don't feel at all like what I'm trying to make myself out to be there.
But I'm actually pretty happy having a job! It's not minimum wage and it's related to what I actually enjoy and everything. So I'm not complaining, but I wanted to write about this. (: Just one of life exchanges I guess. X3

Tons more congrats on getting a job, and one that's so interesting and fits you as well as it does and everything! It's a really cute drawing here, too! The suit and glasses are all that are really cute on lil Oxxy, even though I'm sure they're a lil weird for you to wear!
But I don't think it's you not fitting in! It's more the work-world not fitting perfectly with your cool, pajama-wearing hammy self! ;) But I'm sure you fit in just as well as everyone else - I have a hard time believing everyone is really so thoroughly professional that the way they act at work is a good representation of the way they really are. And I hope and I betcha you'll still get plenty of opportunities while you work at this job to wear the clothes you wanna wear, and act more the awesome way you are, and all that, even if you put on a bit of a front at work from time to time. So maybe you can just enjoy yourself doing your graphic designing thing during the work day, and then enjoy the other stuff the rest of the time!

Hehe. X3 Well luckily I usually wear reading glasses while on the computer, aand actually I think I wear those long-sleeved collared shirts a lot too! Maybe just not in that same way, but I dunno, something makes that whole look feel much more grown up than I feel. (: But I like everything ya said here. X3 At work, there's lots of silly things people say and do, even if they look nicer than usual doing it. At least outside of there we can look more like we feel to match everything else. :3 I never really gave clothes that much thought before either. @.@ Huh! Well either way, thanks for the support and smart thoughts as always Boskeroo! (:
Yeah! :) It's good at least they're not totally new kinds of clothes and stuff to you, even if they're a little different in some ways, and that people can at least act silly with all those formal clothes! :) And it makes sense different clothes'd suddenly make you think more about clothes. I bet you'll get more accustomed to them quickly, not to mention get time where you can dress more like you feel. :)
He looks like i do. His expression, i mean. I hate wearing uniforms, unless it's a trenchcoat or something epic. I just got a job at Staples, and even a polo shirt feels wrong... I do spend all the time in the back, working on the computers, though, so our dress code is a bit more lenient. I bet i could get away with wearing a T-shirt....
OKay, here;s the funny thing. I used to be the same way (well, I sort of am now, w/r/t suits, but that's because I've become lazy in my old age), but... when I first got a job for the Board of Education, I was required to wear a suit every day, even though my office was in the basement, and I wouldn't see administrators unless they made an appointment. I felt outclassed or something.
Until... I thought of dressing up as putting on armor for the day.
Like, a sort of super hero costume. Seriously.
It worked.

Hmmm.... tell you what. Most likely there is a sort of uniform in your work, just pay attention. You could , within the accepted set, express your quirky. Something like skull ties, or something out of thinkgeek.com, IMHO.
