Case has had some history, including shooting at bad guys on a floating island made of garbage, but that's all in the past, we can safely forget about that because Case certainly did.
Today he's the head Park Ranger of the Bookshire Valley Forestry Preserve. He has various duties as a park ranger, most of them pretty low key. He checks on campers and hikers. He make sure wild animals and visitors remain at a safe distance from one another. He keeps the Visitor's Center tidy. He yells at a lot of rowdy teens and tells them to stop making a mess.
Of course the Bookshire Forestry Preserve has its own unique challenges, being the remnants of an actual ancient magic forest, with actual magic woodland creatures and fae lords and witches and beasts of legend doing their best to thrive in a changing modern age. Since all ancient magic forests are obviously connected via a force somewhere between quantum entanglement and faerie tale narrative, occasionally someone from an entirely different place shows up. They usually say they started walking through the woods in their own forest, and ended up at the Visitor's Center with no small amount of confusion and concern. Sometimes they stick around. Sometimes they go back into the forest and nobody knows where they end up from there (hopefully another Visitor's Center with any luck).
Regardless, this adds further duties to Case's job. He keeps people from throwing rocks at rocs. He serves irresponsible wizards with citations and wonders why there aren't more responsible wizards. He makes sure draculas and Blades understand that nobody is going to get into blood rave/techno battles within the forest limits, and certainly not while everyone is trying to get some sleep. He fights symbolic honor duels with troll princes to solve disputes, after all fae are more interested in symbolism than realism and it keeps them from mauling fishermen. He's found at least two presumably legendary swords and three legendary spears, which are safely in comfortable display cases in the Visitor's Center where people can see them and ask them questions.
Its pretty nice, all things told. Beats getting shot at on a garbage island. If you've got any questions for him, go ahead and ask, he loves helping people understand the delicate nature of the Bookshire Valley.
