Perhaps the oddest (true) corner of Hitchcock's resume is "Elstree Calling," a revue film (?!) released in 1930. The premise of the film was that there was going to be a television (!) broadcast from the Elstree studios, which accounted for the musical numbers. Hitchcock directed the comedic bits in between (and may have had a hand in writing them). In reality, Hitchcock only moved to Hollywood when he signed a 7 year contract with David O. Selznick in April of 1939, just four months before The Wizard of Oz (which had a tortured production history) was released.
Wasn't there some sort of alternate timeline novel(I hesitate to call it fanfic because I recall it was an actual published novel) about a barnstormer or crop duster that crashes in Oz?
