Something I managed to finish before the end of the month, inspired by, er, fanart of Jewel from the movie Rio, a bust (aheh) of a female macaw who is supposed to be someone I drew before, a Brazilian army medic. Once I knew to make the picture set in the 1940s, I set about looking for appropriate attire since given the country she lives in, most of the typical dresses from that time would be absolutely sweltering to wear; instead, I looked to actual pictures of Brazil in the '30s and '40s and found a picture with the right sort of dress and went to work. I eventually went with an admittedly half-assed pose with her arms there and unintentionally drew her really buxom and so, the haphazard coloring process began. Halfway through, I looked at pictures of actual Spix's Macaws and realized they were much paler blue than what I had been using and had light grey around the nostrils and on the beak, so... oops.
