It happened so very suddenly. A flash of light and her pupils narrowed to pinprick dots in an ocean of blue iris as the pain shot though to the back of her very skull to set off a ringing in her ears like her own death knell. There was exactly one creature she knew of in her small world that created this kind of foreign light; where it held warm oranges and harsh whites instead of the familiar blues, purples, and greens that served as the forest's ambient light. If so, this was the end. But as she dropped into a crouch, staring blindly into the source of the swirling light Musaamik realized that she did not see a hulking mass that would serve as her doom but a dancing and swirling of distinct globules as though the light had suffused floating puddles of water, or perhaps harnessed the light from fire embers if not the heat. At this point, she had no concept for what magic was, and could only freeze before its spectacle in utter terror. Particles wisped around her claws as she dug them into the moss, and suddenly there was a sharp tug somewhere around her abdomen. The light faded, and Musaamik stood there no longer, whisked away by the summoning spell to the land beyond.
This piece is a beautiful speedpaint done by the very talented and prestigious
halybs of the moment where Musaamik was plucked from her comfortable bioluminescent forest and dumped into a world of magic and monsters. Halybs has finally uploaded their version but please do not redistribute this piece anywhere as Musaamik belongs to me and I would much prefer you check out the artist's work.
