Witness the demise of the first beak and eyes. I've a lot of experience with super sculpey (the clay used), but even a complete amateur couldn't get their clay as thoroughly torched as this. Somehow the oven set itself to broil and toasted the thing; the second set was baked in my neighbor's oven just to make sure.
I was very tempted to leave the mask just painted, no feathers, but the point is unsettling realism. Mere paint wouldn't achieve that look.

Evil oven! I see it sure did a number indeed on that first set of facial features. Do you use an in oven thermometer to monitor? I keep toying around with getting one because I have no idea the temp of my oven (I know it tends to cook things faster than the recipes say they should).
