Well now I knew were the den was. It was in a little space between the original roof and the roof of an addition. The cubs had rolled out of the den, into the rain gutter and then down the pipe!

Its a raccoon cub, emerging from a rain gutter drain pipe, ass end first. She had slid all the way down the pipe from the rain gutter. I guess its a lot better the rolling off the roof, but from what I have been told, If she had done that she probably would have been ok! The mom never showed up. One of my neighbors said he had seen a dead raccoon on the road below my house.
