They already know the legend of the Alola Guardians, the Tapus, and the legend of Solgaleo and Lunala, but there can be more than 1 or 2 legends on the same Pokémon region.

The Alola region is known for both those legends, but there is also a legend about one of its residential Pokémon, Lycanroc. There is more to this werewolf-like Pokémon that the Alola people claim to know.

A long time ago, during summer in the 1970’s, there was a young scientist named Professor Leo Shinu. He worked at the Pokemon labs in the Alola region as an explorer who went across the Alola region to try and discover new species of Pokémon or find new ways to create new types of stones or potions. He was payed average for his job and he actually enjoyed it, due to the fact that he enjoyed being outside all the time. He was even employee of the month and had his own office. Many of the workers at the lab loved him and treated him like a celebrity.

However, one day, an unusual fissure opened up on Melemele island. Of course, Shinu was assigned to check it out. In the fissure, Shinu found strange writings and pictures of a strange wolf-like Pokémon. His curiosity only got stronger. He sent feedback to the lab about what he saw, of course. He ventured deeper into the fissure, until suddenly, he saw a strange, bright glow. He looked, and saw what appeared to be a strange looking stone, in the shape of the full moon. However, he didn’t send feedback due to the low reception from he deep he went down the fissure. So the only way for the lab to do research on it was for the professor the bring it back to the lab. So the professor tried to grab it and pick it up with it’s bare hands, but then suddenly, through an opening, the full moon was revealed, and the light hit the stone. The stone began to do something unusual. It began to glow, and blue bolts of electricity started to shoot out of it. The bolts began to hit the professor and started to electrocute him. Thankfully for him, the electric pulse alerted the Lab and were sent to check it out. They found Shinu in a Coma and sent Charizard riders to rescue him.

During the next day, he woke up in the hospital and the nurse told him what happened. But however, the professor has no idea that his life was going to change forever.

2 weeks later, he got out of the hospital and was sent home, but since waking from his coma, he started gaining wolf-like behavior.

Suddenly, during one night in his house, on a full moon, he started to experience pain in his body, and started to make beastly sounds. And that was when he noticed his body change. Fur began growing all over him, his muscles started to bulge, his teeth began to sharpen, he grew paws and claws. He turned into something he couldn’t even imagine. And just before the poor professor thought it couldn’t get worse, he started to lose control over himself, and started to become vicious, aggressive and dangerous. He turned into a horrifying monster. He made a vicious howl and jumped out the window of his house and started to roam the island like a mindless beast.

However, when hunting in the forest, he stumbled upon the city. When he got there, he started terrorizing people and even interfered with some Pokémon battles. Thankfully, due to both a surge from it being an unknown pokemon and from the city screaming, Tapu KoKo rushed to the city, a long with the other Guardian Deities. They managed to stop the beast. The police and even the Pokémon labs came to check it out. They brought him to the lab for research, unaware that the beast was in fact one of their own workers. However, the Labs owner quickly realized the glasses and tie on the creature. He realized it was his in fact Professor Shinu. He ordered the workers to stop at once and put the creature in a chamber. Once the owner told everyone, they thought he was crazy, until they saw the accessories on the beast too. He went to his friend, Hala, who comes to the lab to check out the beast turned Professor. Hala decides to summons the Alola guardians, the Tapus to his side to get advice. The Tapus agreed and took a look to see if they can help Shinu. Tapu KoKo tells Hala something the others can’t understand. Hala, since he was a kahuna, was able to understand what the Guardian Deities were saying. After translating every word, Hal’s told everyone in the lab.

Hala told everyone that the Guardian Deities can save him, but it will come with a price. The stone he touched in the fissure came from a hidden power chamber formed by energy from the moon. When the professor touched it, the energy infused with his body and put a curse on him. Every night when the full moon rises, he turns into a vicious, mindless beast.

If the Guardian Deities leave him like that, he will change back into a human when the sun comes back up. But will turn into a beast again the next full moon. And will keep on transforming back and forth for the rest of his life.

The only way to save him is for the Guardian Deities to use their magic to erase every single memory of his entire life, including the ones happening right now. All except for the memory of him touching the stone. He would still be able to walk, run, hunt, eat, and most importantly, know what human and Pokémon are. But he wouldn’t remember how to talk, he wouldn’t even be able to remember his friends or family, not even his own boss or the other lab workers.

However, the lab worker didn’t care about the risks of what would happen to him, he quickly accepted, and the Guardian Deities performed a ritual.

After the ritual, a white flashed occurred in the room. After the light dimmed, everyone, even the Guardian Deities, saw the most extraordinary thing ever. The professor started glowing, and small blue pellets flew out of his body and started to reform. The aura turned into….Pokémon Eggs. The wolf-like professor was asleep and was snuggling the eggs like a motherly Pokémon.

The scientists stood in shock, and the owner including.

When Shinu woke up, he felt like he was just born, he was in a metallic room with Pokémon eggs. Suddenly, he started to say a strange name.

“Ly-Ly…Lycan?….Lycanroc?”

The scientists started questioning the strange word Shinu was saying.

The Guardian Deities got close to him and tried to keep him calm, but when they saw the scientists, he started freaking out. The Guardian Deities continued to try and keep him calm, but however, it didn’t work. Shinu then saw a window that led outside and he managed to escape. The lab owner tried to go after him, but was stopped by Tapu KoKo. Hala then realized what was happening, he then explained to the owner that since Shinu no longer has no memory, besides the stone, he believes the fissure is where he belongs. However, he then went back inside the lab to check out the Pokémon eggs Shinu left.

Scientists were putting the eggs pillows and were putting them under lamps to check their status and their embryos. Inside were puppy-like shaped embryo’s judging by the appearance and color, they were rock types. This was the day they discovered a new type of Pokémon, with the help of Professor Shinu’s last exploration, and help from the Guardian Deities.

A few months later, the eggs hatched. And out came adorable looking puppy-like Pokémon. The only words the were saying were rock, and ruff. So the lab decided to call them RockRuff. When the lab was training them a few months later, they evolved and discovered they could evolve into different forms based on the position of the sun or moon. If it’s day, they can evolve into quadrupedal wolf-like Pokémon with blonde and white fur and rock spikes protruding from its body. If it’s night, they can evolve into a bipedal wolf-like Pokémon with white and red fur with red eyes and a rock spike protruding from its chest. And if it’s dusk, they can evolve into an orange and white version of the evolved rockruff at day. By surprise, they said the same name that Professor Shinu said when the ritual was performed. “Lycanroc” So the lab decided to name them that in honor of Professor Shinu. This was the Alola region labs greatest discovery. A few days later after taking care of them, the Alola region press came after the owner told them about the discovery of this new Pokémon. It was aired on TV all across every region, the owner told them everything that happened. They told the press the name of the new Pokémon as Lycanroc.

A few days after the press, they were finally released into the region for trainers to catch and train for future Pokémon battles. This was the birth of Lycanroc.

Over time, the fissure slowly closed up with Shinu inside it, after it closed up, Shinu lived alone, hidden from society. But there was a gap big enough for him to see the full moon. He would howl every time he saw it, and all the Lycanroc’s, wild and caught by trainer, would hear him and would howl with him.

People nowadays on the Alola region would hear his howls too. And this was the the day the legend was born.
