Something I put together in flash just on a whim, thought it'd be fun to animate something.
I feel like trying to use flash a bit more when finishing this, but I realized I totally forgot how to tween shit, so I dunno what I'll do.

The only thing I really was gonna tween is the body. Kinda wanted to experiment a bit, taking a different approach.
I'm usually pretty straightforward and don't have the patience to plan things in advance, so traditional frame by frame is the only thing I know how to do properly.
But yeah I hear yee, traditional is the stuff!

I kinda work with a mix of Pose-to-Pose and Straight-Ahead, depending on what I want. For crazy stuff that I don't need to worry about keeping the shape consistent, I just do straight-ahead.
You know what is awesome about this? It makes me think that you're making an enemy sprite for a game like Mario RPG.

When doing loops like this I usually sketch out a general pose, decide on two keyframes (like his head's lowest and highest point) and then just try and connect them all into a fluid motion.
Hah, I actually made it with that intent, somewhat. I kinda wanted a videogame-esque looped look to him, like the adorable ones you see in the handheld Mario & Luigi games.

what you could is make the body in a graphic/movie file then break it into keyframes and moving the body by clicking and dragging just a few pixels at a time in each frame. Holding down shift will keep it moving perfectly horizontal. I barely know flash, but I can fake it!
